Energy Efficiency
KazNPZ monitors and works to reduce the energy consumed per unit of product output. Process heat integration, waste heat recovery, and optimised furnace operations are among the tools we apply to reduce our energy intensity. Lower energy consumption means lower operating costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Flare Reduction
Flaring of hydrocarbon gases is both a waste of valuable feedstock and a source of greenhouse gas emissions. KazNPZ aims to minimise routine flaring through gas recovery and utilisation programmes, consistent with Kazakhstan’s national commitments on associated gas utilisation.
Water Stewardship
Water is a critical and increasingly scarce resource in Kazakhstan’s arid climate. KazNPZ recycles process water where feasible, treats all wastewater before discharge, and benchmarks its water intensity against industry norms to identify improvement opportunities.
Supporting Kazakhstan's National Green Agenda
Kazakhstan has committed to carbon neutrality by 2060 and has outlined ambitious renewable energy targets. While KazNPZ’s core business is hydrocarbon refining, we recognise the importance of operating in a manner consistent with Kazakhstan’s national environmental commitments. We actively report on our environmental performance to regulators and are open to investing in emission-reduction technologies as they become viable for our scale of operations.
Community & Social Responsibility
KazNPZ is part of the Aktau community. We support local employment prioritising the hiring and development of Kazakhstani nationals and engage with local authorities, schools, and community organisations on matters of shared interest. Our operations contribute to Mangystau Region’s tax base, supporting public services and infrastructure.
